Melissa Hoff has developed a reputation as a results-oriented strategist for AmLaw 100 and boutique firms alike.  The breadth of her experience includes strategic planning, proposal and other business-development initiatives, visibility and branding activities, and the development of client-interview programs and client teams.

Melissa’s decade as a legal marketer includes significant in-house experience: she led the marketing effort at 120-lawyer Garvey Schubert Barer and served as a Director in the marketing department at 430-lawyer Preston Gates & Ellis, and prior to both she was a member of the Cooley Godward marketing team.  During her tenure at Garvey Schubert, Melissa developed and implemented the firm’s branding campaign, including new corporate identity, new collateral, a new Web site, print advertising, and a public relations campaign, for which Garvey Schubert won a first place award in the Legal Marketing Association’s Your Honor Awards competition.  In addition to her marketing leadership at Preston Gates, Melissa worked closely with firm leadership during the reorganization of the firm’s practice groups and departments.

Melissa’s diverse law firm experience has shaped her ability to think creatively about how marketing that is tailored to a firm’s strategy and consonant with its culture and values can help a firm grow and strengthen its competitive position during all phases of the law firm business cycle.

Melissa, whose B.A. was awarded by Boston University, was a founding member of the Seattle Chapter of the Legal marketing Association and served as Chapter President in 2002.  She is a frequent speaker at marketing conferences and roundtables.
